The Shimano R550 SPD-SL Road Pedals is Shimano's replacement for the alloy 105 pedal. This new road pedal offers a great valve for money. With a wide composite lightweight body and blinding mechanism makes it a great pedal to learn how to use clipless pedals, while still giving you a big platform for maximum power transfer and support. Yet you can go light still, with Shimano's 'new carbon 105 pedal. Born of the pro tour demand for optimal power and endurance, the low-profile pedal technology has expanded to a wide range of cyclists, including competitors at all levels, sport, club, and recreational riders. SPD-SL is a road pedal platform systematically engineered with SHIMANO footwear to transfer more power from your body to your bike. For pro riders, the extra-wide, low-profile cleat distributes energy more evenly over a wider surface and transfers it more efficiently to the bike, under the most extreme pedaling loads. No wasted movement. No loss to flex, voids or mismatched shoe/pedal designs. It’s a core advantage that helps win races. The same energy efficiency that powers pro riders to the podium enhance the experience of other rider categories. Increased endurance for longer rides. More comfort and fun! System-engineered. Rider-tuned. You choose.

The Shimano PD-EH500 Pedals are dual-sided pedals that have an SPD clip-in mechanism on one side, and a platform with traction pins on the other. This gives you the freedom to ride either clipped-in or on flats, without needing to change your pedals back and forth. They work well for urban riding, road touring, or light-duty trail riding, and feature a light action that makes frequent stepping in and out much easier. In addition, they include a set of SH56 multi-release cleats, which further simplifies unclipping by allowing you to move your heel in multiple directions to release, rather than only being able to unclip by kicking your heel outwards horizontally.
Dual-sided pedals let you ride clipped-in or on flats
Ideal for urban riding, road touring, or light-duty trail riding
Eight traction pins provide grip even in wet conditions
Light-action SPD mechanism for easy clipping and unclipping
Multi-release cleats further simplify unclipping
Cleat retention adjuster lets you customize release tension
Durable construction with sealed cartridge bearings for longevity
With Shimano recently updating its venerable XTR group, the XTR PD-M9100 Pedals get a redesign as well, providing more stability, and the ability to shed mud better than ever before, along with 2 spindle length options. These improvements are the result of a refined pedal body shape that offers a wider edge-to-edge contact area over the outgoing 9000 pedals for an increased shoe to pedal interface and thus, better power transmission. It also features rounded edges to help shed mud and prevent accumulation.
The retention mechanism is basically the same as the benchmark SPD pedals that's been around for decades with wide, open-ended tabs that allow easy entry and security when clipped in. The open design allows muck to flow through, so it doesn't hamper your ability to engage in a hurry and you can get back in quickly after an impromptu hike-a-bike or remounting after a sandy 'cross pit. The larger flat platforms on the inboard and outboard edges are also a boon to gravel riders looking to keep the sole of your shoe solid on the pedal, as are the two spindle lengths (52 and 55mm) to dial in your fit.
The XTR PD-M9100 Pedals come with SM-SH51 (single release) cleats and are also compatible with SM-SH56 (multi-release) cleats. They have chromoly spindles and spin on sealed bearings. The tension of the retention mechanism can be adjusted via a hex screw on the back of each pedal on both sides.

With a wide contact area, the PD-ME700 pedals let riders focus on the trail ahead. Designed to work seamlessly with SHIMANO AM series shoes, the SPD trail pedals deliver enhanced stability over rough terrain.
Wide, dual-sided platform improves pedal-to-shoe stability and power transfer
Integrated cage increases control when not clipped in and protects binding mechanism from impacts
Robust retention claws provide smooth engagement and release
Rider adjustable entry and release tension for individual customization

Shimano's Ultegra group is one of the most popular out there with good reason: it's the perennial favorite when you factor the performance-to-dollars equation. With different demands for drivetrain ranges required for road, gravel, and CX riding, Shimano has created cassette ranges designed to allow the R8000 drivetrain to easily satisfy the needs for a variety of riders. The Ultegra CS-R8000 Cassette ranges as high as 32t, so you can set up the new Ultegra (or Dura-Ace R9100) with the range you need for gravel epics, 4 corner crits, hill climbs, junior nationals, and everything in-between.
Shimano's experience in forging, machining, and engineering allows for an enormous amount of technology that goes into tooth design, shaping, and shifting ramps. The cogs themselves are constructed from a nickel-plated steel that prevents corrosion and is slow to wear. Ultimately, this leads to cassettes that shift smoother and more precisely—and last longer—at a price that's friendly to the self-sponsored racer.
The top five cogs are grouped as three and two, respectively, and are riveted to anodized aluminum spiders that add stiffness to improve shifting. The remaining six cogs are individual with spacers between, and an anodized aluminum lockring screws into the freehub to hold the entire assembly together. One spline of the cassette is wider than the others and corresponds with the splines on the freehub, so the cassette cogs can only be installed with the right clocking of the shifting ramps, timing them for perfect chain pick-up and release. This innovation is true to Shimano's Japanese culture, which uses the term "poka-yoke" to refer to features—like these guiding splines—that serve as built-in wards against user error.
